It’s very difficult to stay soft in a hard world … we are invited into conflict of some sort at every turn … we are easily hurt and quickly offended … we feel that familiar edge rise up in us to meet the world with our defenses at the ready, and words that form swords as we speak …
To remain soft feels like a ‘weakness’ … feels like we’re letting ‘them’ win. What’s that saying about ‘turning the other cheek’? … That can’t be right! We’ll become a doormat if we don’t defend .. they’ll walk all over us! And so defending may be necessary … for a time …
But then comes a day when to turn aside feels like an act of deep humility, of courage, of kindness, of ultimate wisdom. It doesn’t feel like we’re giving in … it feels like we’re choosing LIFE … It feels like we finally see that softness is power and ultimate STRENGTH …
And then we will understand the power of water and we will begin to FLOW …
Then we will see what true POWER is …
