Somehow we came to believe that the darkness itself is hell,
As though it exists apart from God.
But God is in the darkness too.
In the unlit places, in the hidden places.
In the ache below the surface of things.
We do not need to fear the darkness.
The invitation is always to cross the threshold,
To enter it fearlessly.
No need to turn away from the darkness within.
Lean in ~ ask for its name.
Breathe deep, listen carefully.
Your breath brings mercy.
A quiet invitation.
Your breath brings healing so that those cold, damp things can begin to soften and move again in you.
Can begin to utter the sounds long bound within.
Bringing light to that darkness.
Not to dispel it. But so that it can finally speak.
In time so that it will sing you home ~ ♥️
