This is what I have come to know in my many long, long years walking my spiritual path. That ALL spiritual paths /religions have at their core love, beauty, joy, hope and above all kindness. If we were all just a bit kinder and more respectful to each other there would be a revolution on this earth!
I long ago surrendered any kind of belief that I have the ‘one true religion’ that I need to convert others to. Why is my religion any truer than yours? That’s never made any sense to me. I once heard a mythical story that explained this to me perfectly: the Angel Gabriel was descending to earth with a shimmering ‘Ball of Truth’. Just as he was about to reach earth he slipped and dropped the Ball. It shattered into a millions pieces ~ and ever since, humans have been picking up single shards of the Ball of Truth and saying “See I have found the truth!” But it’s only when we share our spiritual experience and wisdom collectively that we will again discover ALL truth.
I do believe, however, that we are all drawn to certain religious paths based on our ethnicity, background, personality and preferences. It’s important to belong to something.
We need to understand that we are all walking the same road home. And we need to do so with openness, respect and honour towards each other. That is imperative for us all to move into the future collectively, not just for some, but for all. We all have spiritual truths that we must share with each other so that we can see the WHOLE picture. We each hold a sliver of the ‘Truth’ to share.
Unity starts with us … let’s support each other to ‘light our own flame’
